Received a press release just before Christmas regarding next year’s Asia Dive Expo (ADEX). The event will be held in Singpore from April 22 to 24. It looks like another great show. I attended this year’s show and will probably try to make it to this one as well. Check out the Asian Diver web site for details.

It’s probably the best of the three Southeast Asia dive shows, at least this year. There were dive operators from the Red Sea to Raja Ampat, as well as a number of booths offering lots of name brand gear at good prices.

Many of the dive resorts and operators at the show were offering very good deals, but all of them were for show attendees only, so I can’t share them with you! If you’re in the region, I highly recommend attending next year’s show.

It’s now been re-scheduled for July 8 to 11. I expect you might find some hot deals on offer to help lure people back to Thailand. I’m planning to attend, so I’ll try to update you on anything I come across that’s available to all.

ADEX – the Asian Diver Expo will be held in Singapore from April 9 to 11 at the Suntec Convention Center. I will be attending the show on Saturday 10 April from about noon until 4:00 pm, so if any dive operators or resorts would like to meet me to discuss coverage on SEA Undersea, please contact me to arrange an appointment.

TDEX – the Thailand Travel & Dive Expo will be held in Bangkok from May 20 to 23 at the Queen Sirikit National Convention Center. Show hours are 11:00 to 21:00 daily. Note that 11:00 to 15:00 on the first day is "trade only." There are about 60 exhibitors lined up for what is billed as the most visited dive show in Asia.

To that end, there are several dive expos coming up in the first half of 2009. If you’re around when one of these is on, they might be a good place to pick up equipment or liveaboards at a good price.

Asia Dive Expo
3 – 5 April 2009, Singapore
Suntec International Convention & Exhibition Centre
Started in 1995, this is Asia’s longest running show. It launched the inaugural EcoVillage which featured presentations from international NGOs like the World Wide Fund for Nature and Reef Check Malaysia. ADEX will continue to highlight the importance of marine conservation through its various channels alongside its core purpose of bringing together the best in Asia’s diving industry.
Thailand Dive Expo
14 – 17 May 2009, Bangkok
Queen Sirikit National Convention Center
Sixth annual edition of the show. Open from 11:00 to 20:00. Free admission.
Malaysia International Dive Expo
3 – 5 July 2009, Kuala Lumpur
Putra World Trade Centre
An exhibition for Diving, Water Sports & Travel Adventure will be on everything from dive to eco travel, resorts destinations, tourism boards, environmental NGO’s, live boards, dive equipments, latest on underwater photography and videography innovations.
